““Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Ask for help when you need it. It’s the only way you’re going to learn and make sure you’re doing things the right way.”

Blake grew up with Ferguson. When he was just 7 years old he started doing ridealongs and going to job sites with his dad, Mike Llewellyn, who worked for Ferguson for 34 years. As a kid Blake actually got ball valves for Christmas instead of Batman action figures! When he was a senior in high school, Blake got his own official start in the company working in the warehouse, a job he kept all through college. After he graduated from college, Blake spent about 5 years in inside sales for industrial and mechanical. Today he has been in outside sales for about 5 years, putting his total time with the company at more than 14 years — and even more if you count back to when he was 7.

Blake credits his father with instilling in him not only a love for the industry but a strong work ethic and a deep sense of personal accountability. He considers himself fortunate to have learned so much from his father, whom he describes as one of the best people to ever work for the company, admitting he does have biased opinion. All of his dad’s hard work did not go unnoticed, he won the President’s Club a total of five times in his career. In fact, Blake also won it, making him and his dad the only father and son in the history of the company to both win the President’s Club. It would certainly seem the apple doesn’t fall far from that tree!

If Blake has a personal motto it’s “Work hard.” He believes in the importance of putting time and effort into your job and into serving customers, doing whatever it takes to make sure they have what they need when they need it. He fully embraces the company’s dedication to service excellence, explaining the job isn’t a clock-in and clock-out job, it’s really a 24/7 commitment because customers can need you at all hours. In addition to being willing to put the time in, Blake says asking questions is essential to success on the job because it’s the only way to make sure you’re doing things the right way. In fact, even after all of these years, Blake still asks questions because he always strives to give his best and better himself every day.
