Justin says he’s been in the PVF business “forever.” And it’s just about true! His father and uncle were in the industry, and as a kid he used to work summers in the warehouse for Piping & Equipment, Inc. After graduating from Texas State University with a business management degree, he decided to make it his career path. Fast-forward 20 years — the last 7 of which have been with Ferguson — and he still loves what he does every day.
After getting his official career start with P&E in inside sales, Justin moved to outside sales when he joined Wolseley in 2016. Originally covering the Golden Triangle and Sulphur Market areas, he now focuses on Beaumont and La Porte Market as an area sales manager, a role he took on about a year ago.
For Justin, the best part of his job is and has always been relationships. The opportunity to help people is what swings his feet out of bed in the morning. Working for a company that’s genuinely focused on its people really puts that extra pep in his step. He also enjoys building relationships with customers, in a work setting as well as away from work doing things like hunting, fishing, and entertaining — Justin loves to cook and his wife went to culinary school, so together they can really throw down!
His advice to anyone starting out in PVF is to really show up and be engaged, be proactive about growing, and get involved. You have to put skin in the game. He encourages asking questions and being open to learning — a mindset that continues to fuel him even decades into his career. “I want to learn something new every day,” he says. “I can’t ever just be. I’m always doing, always learning, and always going nonstop. I think that’s what it takes to grow. For me, learning and growing into a better person and a better professional is a lifelong experience.”
